Content Editor

Remote, Worldwide

Turn footage from our on-site creators and clients into polished, on-brand video for a portfolio of client accounts: ad cuts, reels, testimonials, and long-form. Sharp pacing, clean sound, fast turnarounds.

Contract|Remote (Worldwide)

AB Marketing Group is a 9-year marketing agency serving local and regional businesses across the US. Our in-person content creators shoot at client businesses every week, and what they capture becomes the ads, reels, and brand videos our clients run their real budgets on. The editing seat is where that footage becomes results. We're hiring a Content Editor to own post-production for a portfolio of client accounts: short-form that stops the scroll, ad cuts built to convert, and long-form that holds attention.

Why This Role Matters

Editing here is not assembling clips to a template. Every project starts as raw footage from a working business, a roofing crew, a restaurant kitchen, a medical practice, and your cut is what decides whether it performs. You'll work at the craft level: story structure, pacing, hooks, captions, sound design, and color, with the judgment to know what a paid ad needs versus what an organic reel needs. Our clients pay premium rates, and their content should look like it.

What You'll Do

  • Edit short-form and long-form video for a portfolio of client accounts: reels and shorts, paid ad cuts, testimonials, promos, and website video.

  • Cut for retention and conversion: a hook in the first two seconds, pacing that holds attention, captions, sound design, and clean color.

  • Turn one shoot day into a content package: multiple deliverables at multiple aspect ratios from a single batch of raw footage.

  • Work from creative briefs set by our project management, and flag coverage gaps back to the shooters so the next shoot fills them.

  • Keep every cut on-brand per client: fonts, colors, caption styles, and tone stay consistent account to account.

  • Deliver on schedule, every time. Client posting calendars and ad launches depend on your timeline.

  • Work async with our US-based team and in-person creators: organized project files, clear handoffs, proactive communication.

  • Revise quickly and without ego when a strategist or client asks for changes.

What You'll Bring

Must-Haves

  • 3+ years of professional video editing with client work you can show. A portfolio or reel is required, and we watch everything you send.

  • Proven short-form ability: reels, shorts, and TikTok-native cuts that hold attention, plus the range to cut long-form when a project calls for it.

  • Fluency in a professional NLE (Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut), plus captioning and basic motion graphics.

  • Sound judgment: music selection, mixing, and cleanup that make field and phone audio usable.

  • Experience editing for marketing outcomes: ads, promos, or social growth, not only films and personal projects.

  • Fast, reliable turnarounds: you can hold a queue of projects across multiple clients without dropping one.

  • Clear written English and responsive async communication with a US Eastern (New York) based team.

  • Self-directed work style: you don't need to be managed, reminded, or chased.

Nice-to-Haves

  • After Effects motion graphics depth: animated captions, lower thirds, logo animation.

  • Color grading depth (DaVinci Resolve).

  • Experience cutting direct-response ad creative for Meta or Google campaigns.

  • Photo retouching ability alongside video.

  • Agency background: you've edited against briefs, brand kits, and deadlines for someone else's clients.

What Success Looks Like

First 30 Days

  • Master our tools, project structure, and the brand kits for your assigned accounts.
  • Deliver your first cuts on time with minimal technical issues.
  • Revision rounds getting shorter as you internalize each client's taste.
  • Proactive communication whenever a project needs something you don't have.

First 90 Days

  • Owning post-production for a steady portfolio of accounts, on schedule, every week.
  • Your creative judgment trusted: briefs get lighter because your instincts are right.
  • Zero missed deadlines. Zero surprises the team hears about after the fact.
  • Established as a first-call editor as new accounts come on.

What Makes You Successful Here

  • You're a student of the craft: always studying what makes content perform, not just what makes it pretty.

  • You cut for the ad and the feed, not the showreel.

  • You treat deadlines as commitments, not targets.

  • You take feedback fast and make the revision better than the note asked for.

  • You flag problems early. Silence doesn't solve anything.

Team Structure

You're part of our remote editing team as an independent contractor, working async with our in-person content creators (they shoot, you cut) and our project management (they brief, you deliver). No middle management: your work goes to team leads and straight onto client accounts. Volume grows with the client roster, and the editors who deliver reliably get first call on new accounts. If your reel is mostly phone-shot social content rather than camera work, look at our UGC Content Editor role instead.
