Senior Social Media Manager
Growth & Engagement Strategist
Own engagement strategy, content direction, and platform-native growth for a book of 7 to 10 client social accounts, with the organization and time management to run every one of them well.
Applying includes a short timed skills assessment. Applications without a completed assessment aren't considered.
AB Marketing Group is a 9-year marketing agency serving local and regional businesses across the US. Our model is simple to say and hard to do: we find the specific thing holding a client's growth back, fix it, prove it in numbers they can open any time, and they own all of it. Social media at ABMG has grown past reactive posting and scheduling, and the accounts deserve someone who owns the strategy behind them. We're hiring a Senior Social Media Manager to take strategic ownership of a book of 7 to 10 client social accounts: the engagement strategy, the direction behind the content, and the platform-native growth plays most managers never touch. This is a seat for someone who has been there and done that, wants agency-level pace and variety, and is ready to come in and make an impact on accounts that are theirs.
Why This Role Matters
This is not a button-pusher seat. Scheduling posts and answering comments are the bare minimum, an important part of the job but not the job. The job is why an account grows: the engagement strategy behind it, the strategy behind the content produced for it, and the growth mechanics native to each platform, from Facebook groups to collab posts to coordinated outreach. Our clients pay premium rates because there's a gap in their business they hired us to fill. They want guidance, professional input, and someone who moves without being managed, not an order-taker waiting for instructions. You'll have support here, like every role does, but you won't need hand-holding: you've seen the plateaued account, the hard client conversation, and the platform shift before, and you don't need to be told how to work through them. You should be able to open an account on day one and see what it needs.
What You'll Do
- ✓
Own strategy for a book of 7 to 10 client social accounts end to end, across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn, from the engagement plan through content direction to monthly reporting. Content production is handled the way it is for every account here; you decide what gets made and why.
- ✓
Design engagement strategies that measurably lift account performance: reach that turns into real engagement, engagement that turns into inquiries, followers who are actually the client's customers.
- ✓
Direct the content strategy for every account: build the briefs the editing team produces against, grounded in what each platform is actually distributing right now.
- ✓
Run platform-native growth plays: Facebook groups, collab posts, coordinated outreach, community seeding, and whatever unique mechanism a platform offers that the client's competitors aren't using.
- ✓
Set the community management standard across the book: response tone, escalation judgment, and turning comments and DMs into relationships and inquiries.
- ✓
Deliver clear, on-time monthly reports that connect social activity to business outcomes the owner cares about, not a screenshot of the platform dashboard.
- ✓
Join client calls as the social strategy expert: explain the strategy, defend the decisions, bring recommendations before the client asks.
- ✓
Run your book with the time management and organization it demands: 7 to 10 accounts, every one reported on time, nothing waiting on a reminder.
What You'll Bring
Must-Haves
- ✓
3+ years of hands-on social media management with proven results; 5 or more preferred.
- ✓
Agency experience, required. Managing a multi-account book at a marketing agency is a different job from running one brand in-house or freelancing two or three accounts, and this role needs someone who has lived that rhythm.
- ✓
Platform depth across Facebook, Instagram, and short-form video (TikTok, Reels, Shorts), with working command of YouTube and LinkedIn.
- ✓
Proven engagement and growth results you can show with numbers, for real businesses.
- ✓
Experience with local and consumer businesses: restaurants, auto dealerships, med spas, home services, retail. You know what makes a local audience engage, not just scroll.
- ✓
Strategic ownership: you've set strategy that clients followed, not just executed calendars someone else directed.
- ✓
The time management and organizational skills to carry 7 to 10 accounts at once without dropping a thread. This is a volume-and-quality job, and you've done it before.
- ✓
Been there, done that: plateaued accounts, tough client conversations, platform shifts. You don't need to be told how to work through a challenge you've already seen.
- ✓
Clear, confident English on video calls, in email, and everywhere in between: you can get in front of a US-based business owner, or our team, and be the credible expert on your accounts.
- ✓
Available and responsive during US Eastern (New York) working hours, wherever in the world you're based.
- ✓
Self-directed work style: you don't need to be managed, reminded, or chased. You flag problems before anyone asks.
Nice-to-Haves
- •
Local collab, UGC, and influencer coordination experience.
- •
Social listening and community research tools.
- •
Vertical experience in automotive, restaurants, or medical aesthetics.
- •
Enough short-form editing sensibility to brief editors precisely. You don't need to cut the videos; you need to know exactly what to ask for.
- •
Working fluency in boosting and paid amplification mechanics. Paid campaigns proper belong to our media buyers; you should know when a post has earned amplification.

What Makes You Successful Here
- ✓

You bring decisions and recommendations, not just questions and problems.

You see each platform as a system with mechanics to learn and use, not a queue of posts to publish.

You can explain an engagement strategy to a non-technical owner in plain English.
- ✓
You're organized and reliable, and you never need to be reminded twice.
- ✓
You own your accounts completely: if engagement dips, you know why before anyone asks.
- ✓
You want a book that's yours: the wins, the misses, and the client relationships that come with them.
Team Structure
This is a high-level doer seat, not a management seat: no direct reports, no layers, just your book and the expectation that you run it. You report directly to our founders and team leads, and you collaborate with our content, paid media, and web and SEO teams the way every account role here does. This is a flat structure where results speak louder than titles, and the person who owns the account makes the calls on the account.
Compensation
$2,000 to $2,500/month. Remote contractor role, paid monthly based on experience.
