UGC Content Editor

Short-Form & Social, Remote

High-volume editing seat for phone-shot and social-native footage: clients' iPhone clips, event coverage from their socials, and our team's on-site captures, turned into scroll-stopping reels and stories every day.

Contract|Remote (Worldwide)

AB Marketing Group is a 9-year marketing agency serving local and regional businesses across the US. A growing share of the best-performing content our clients run never touches a cinema camera: the owner films a walkthrough on an iPhone, a crew member catches a job-site moment, an event gets covered on stories, our team grabs quick vertical clips on site. We're hiring a UGC Content Editor to own that lane: taking real, phone-shot footage and turning it into social content that feels native to the feed and performs like it was engineered to.

Why This Role Matters

This is a craft seat disguised as a volume seat. Anyone can trim a phone clip. Very few editors can take thirty seconds of shaky vertical footage and find the hook, the cut points, the caption rhythm, and the sound that make it stop the scroll, and then do it again many times a day across many client accounts. This is deliberately not our cinema lane: no brand films, no big productions. If your reel is camera-department work and polished commercials, apply to our Content Editor role instead. This seat is for an editor who lives inside TikTok, Reels, and Shorts and knows why one clip gets 400 views and an almost-identical one gets 40,000.

What You'll Do

  • Edit a high volume of short-form social content daily: reels, TikToks, shorts, and stories cut from phone-shot and user-generated footage.

  • Work from imperfect source material: client iPhone clips, event coverage pulled from their social accounts, and quick vertical captures from our on-site team.

  • Find the hook in raw footage and lead with it. The first two seconds decide everything in this format.

  • Caption everything in platform-native styles matched to each client's brand kit.

  • Keep cuts feeling native to the feed: authentic and platform-fluent, never overproduced.

  • Stay current on formats, trends, and audio across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts, and fold them into client content while they still matter.

  • Batch efficiently: multiple finished pieces per day across multiple accounts, organized and delivered on schedule.

  • Work async with our social media team: they set the strategy and the calendar, you make the content that fills it.

What You'll Bring

Must-Haves

  • 2+ years editing short-form social content professionally, with links to accounts or campaigns your edits ran on. We watch everything you send.

  • Genuine platform fluency: you use TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts daily and can explain why a specific edit performed.

  • Speed with quality: comfortable delivering multiple finished short-form edits per day without the craft slipping.

  • Fluency in CapCut and/or Premiere Pro, including a fast captioning workflow.

  • The judgment to make phone footage look intentional: stabilization, cleanup, crop discipline, and audio rescue.

  • Experience editing for businesses or creators, not only your own content.

  • Clear written English and responsive async communication with a US Eastern (New York) based team.

  • Self-directed and reliable: daily output without chasing.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience editing UGC-style ad creative for Meta or TikTok campaigns.

  • Motion graphics touches that stay native to the format: animated captions, quick transitions.

  • Photo editing for carousels and story graphics.

  • Experience pulling and reformatting content from live event coverage.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish.

What Success Looks Like

First 30 Days

  • Master our project structure, brand kits, and the voice of your assigned accounts.
  • Hit a steady daily output of finished, on-brand short-form pieces.
  • Hooks and captions landing without heavy revision rounds.
  • Proactive communication when footage is missing or unusable.

First 90 Days

  • Owning the social-first editing lane for a book of accounts at full volume.
  • Content you cut visibly outperforming what the accounts posted before.
  • Zero missed calendar slots. The posting schedule never waits on editing.
  • Established as the go-to editor for anything shot on a phone.

What Makes You Successful Here

  • You live on the platforms you edit for and study why things perform.

  • You find the story in rough footage instead of complaining about it.

  • You're fast without being sloppy, and you know which corners can never be cut.

  • You treat volume as a system: batching, templates, and organization, not heroics.

  • You flag problems early. Silence doesn't solve anything.

Team Structure

You're part of our remote editing bench as an independent contractor, dedicated to the social-first lane: our social media team briefs the calendar, our on-site creators and clients supply the raw footage, and you turn it into the daily content stream. This is a volume seat by design, and it grows with the client roster. Editors who deliver consistently become the first call as new accounts come on. If your strength is cinema footage and long-form, our Content Editor role is the better fit.
